"So… you want to fix that piece of costume jewelry Aunt Martha left you?"

Basic Jewelry Repair


Tools and Supplies Needed:

• Small needle nose pliers [no teeth, smooth edges]
• Small needle nose pliers [with teeth]
• Small round nose pliers
• Package of links [yellow/white]
• Package of clasps [yellow/white]
• Small roll of 20 gauge brass wire
• Small round pointed file
• Fine point magic marker

"Ok, so the clasp is missing
and the link is gone
and no jeweler will touch it because it isn't real….."

• If a link will not fit on the end because there isn't a hole,
  take the marker and make a mark for two holes.
  
• Lay the piece of jewelry flat and take the file point
  and turn back and forth till it makes a hole wide enough for the link to pass through.
• Use the smooth edge pliers for opening the link.
  [NOTE: when you open a link, bend it to the side, do not pull it open, as it makes it easier to close]
  
  
• Insert link in one hole, use smooth nose pliers to close.
• Repeat for the second hole.
• Now open another link and hook both of the links you just put in, together.
• At the other end of the piece of jewelry…
• Mark a spot for the clasp.
• Using the file, make a hole,
• Insert a link,
• Hook the clasp onto the link, and close the link

Now
Put on Aunt Martha's beloved piece of jewelry, and enjoy!!!!!!
